How you can Help

To contact us:

The current preservation work and the planned full restoration of our Douglas A-26 Invader requires labor and financial commitments currently furnished by volunteers and limited museum funds. The easiest way for the interested public to assist our project goals is through financial donations to our project.

Our plan is to restore the aircraft to its World War II flying appearance as part of the 671st Bomb Squadron of the 416th Bombardment Group (Light), 9th U.S. Air Force. This aircraft is only one of three aircraft in our collection that actually flew in combat. As described in our progress reports and reinforced in photographs on this site, our aircraft was almost completely gutted before we took possession in 1971. Our current preservation work is aimed at the following short-term goals:

· Protect the aircraft from further deterioration

· Procure missing parts

· Prepare aircraft for public viewing

Our future long term goal is to restore the aircraft to its WW II appearance.

The greatest drain on financial resources is the procurement of missing parts. Antique aircraft parts carry a high cost premium, if you can find them. We are first focusing on the exterior look of the aircraft. The most obvious inconsistency with the aircraft’s external appearance is its nose. The aircraft flew in WW II with a glass bombardier nose. Sometime after WW II, the glass nose was replaced with a solid nose. We want to restore the glass nose. Internally, the cockpit and gunner’s compartment are fairly well gutted and need many parts also.
